When I sing I've noticed a lot of the karaoke singers telling me that that was great rendition. What do they mean by rendition? I'm just singing songs that I like, I'm not try to sound like the original artist.

It is a great translation. Meaning (mostly) that you did a great way performing a song your way, not trying to mime the original.

Well, it could mean one of two things (or both). Maybe they like your Vocal version of the song, or they really like your choice of the cdg version that you use or .....both. Either way....that's a win win situation (compliment) for you.
