I've wanted to sing a praise song for a while and I saw some CDG's that have some.  It seems entirely inappropriate for a bar.  But I just wonder if anyone had good experiences doing this.

I have done this a couple of times, and have had good experiences from it. I did amazing Grace by Elvis, and 3 other people after me wanted to do gospel. we finished it with "will the circle be unbroken"......... I have seen many specials on Tv end with that song. Great singalong

Josh Groban has a couple songs out there that I've heard done at karaoke and were well received .

We do not allow praise songs at our shows, unless they're mainstream pop hits....

they are not well recieved, and are usually too slow and boring... people will tolerate them, but usually roll their eyes and come up and (@$%&#!), so we put a restriction on them... also, we have a $5.00 list after 11..... about 25 songs that you must pay the bartender five bucks to sing, because they're so played out..... pictures, paradise by the dashboard light, strawberry wine, never ever, and a few other crowd tranquilizers.... :)

two things you keep out of a bar, religion and politics...

That's a motto we live by....

:)

-Steve

P.S. not that there's anything wrong with loving jesus or anything like that, it's just that there's a time and place for everything.... just as you would not sing something foul mouthed at a kid's party....

just wanted to make that clear...

I appreciate the suggestions and tend to agree with the religion and politics thing.

I think I'll check out how many baby-boomer females are in the audience.  Elvis is a God to them :)  And then maybe I will try "circle be unbroken."

Dr. J,
It looks like you are playing a keyboard in your picture :)

Thanks
:-David
