It is possible now to plug a cell phone into a laptop or the system comp usb and log on to cavsusa. After paying, download a song and in an area with wifi hotspots get a very fast download. Has anybody done this yet or considering doing it? With things like application sharing I can see the day when the mainframe is at home and the show is being done with a laptop and cell or a pda and a little sat dish.......

I do not carry 100% for my music when I DJ. KJ I carry everything, but dj I have 600 or more gig of music. Many of the places I DJ have a wireless network a few times I have logedd into my home pc and transfered music from my home pc to my notebook that I DJ from.

For KJ'ing it's not practical - yet.
For Dj'ing, I've logged onto the internet and purchased music online to play during the show. Let's see, I logged and and bought a Johnny Mathis song that was requested for a couple's 30th anniversary party (they just showed up - it wasn't planned!). Cost was negligible but the return? A $10 tip and a couple that almost started crying when I played it. I think everyone was touched and they were REALLY shocked that I not only 'knew' who Johnny Mathis was I actually 'had' some of his music!
I just told them I'd look and see if I had it. I fired up my web purchase software, searched for a greatest hits album from Johnny Mathis, bought the album and tagged the requested file to download first. Took me about 45 seconds to cue, another 2-3 minutes to get the song and I'm a hero.
Before I was 'legal' I actually logged onto IRC, downloaded karaoke tracks, converted them to AVI and then burned VCD's which I sang from during the same night. With a 30 minute rotation I could download a dozen songs, convert, burn and sing. Not that dificult, but I'd never consider running a show that way. BTW, I deleted all of my illegal tracks when I started a karaoke hosting business.
You 'can' do a show that way to meet a special request but not for everything and not every night.
