When looking at specs for an amp rated at: 300watts x 2 @ 4 ohms
Is there a calculation that determines what the amp would push at 8 ohms ?
(If not listed on the spec sheet )

It's not completely accurate but if it doesn't state the 8 ohm reading, it usually equates to around half of the 4 ohm rating - but some will rate a little more than half.  Figure the amp you are looking at pushes a minimum of 150 watts into 8 ohms.

What model amp are you looking at?

Lon
It wasn't any amp really, I was looking at PSSL website and came across a
Behringer Console Powered Mixer that looked interesting  -Model PMX1000
12 Channels  / EFX / feedback detection / console  - 600watts for $299
When I looked at the MFG website it said the unit was rated at 400watts
2 x 200 @4ohms.  I looked at the spec sheet and didn't see any 8ohms rating
I'm guesing now  about 100-135 watt per side? which wouldn't be a great deal
If it was 600 watts ..It might be interesting . As a side note I'm just starting to turn my systenm over to computer and was looking at ways to COMPACT further the entire system. I thought a 600watt powered console type mixer for $299 might be worth looking into ..even though its BEHRINGER   lol
Thanks Again for your reply
Tony

With that amp dependineg on the crossover you would be running app30 watts to the horn or less .And remeber at low bass freqs  the power drops off significantly If you really want a powered mixer get the Mackie 808  , however if you are looking for compactness I rec the JBL  or Mackie powered speakers.

If you're looking for a good quality powered mixer the best out there right now is the Yamaha EMX5000-12.  It's a bit more than the behringer but it kicks a lot harder.

PK

I looked at that Yamaha unit , nice  features and power..Little pricey for me right now.  ($600+).  Like I mentioned in the previous post  $300 for a 600watt powered "console type" mixer seemed a little interesting.   For now I'll have to stay with my Peavey PV1200 (made in USA) and my Mackie DFX12 ( Made in USA)  :D

Sadly much of Mackies smaller consoles are now made overseas.  Cheaper labor & production costs.

Made In The USA doesn't mean anything these days. Too much cheap labour in the East/Mid East. On the other hand, Yamaha is a very good name brand when it comes to music equipment.

just wondering why not many KJ's use the mackie 808s, 808m ?
It's 1200 total watts (600 X 2 @2 ohms)
That's  600 watts per channel into 2 ohms
450 watts per channel into 4 ohms
300 watts per channel into 8 ohms

Its compact, 8 channels, has lots of inputs and outputs built in EFX/compression can be split to run Mains and monitors or just Mains. it seems to be the most powerful "all in one" powered mixer on the market  Or  at least in my neck of the woods. Is there something more powerful outhere i'm missing?

Just ribbin a little bit allstar and pkircher.  Yamaha has some good products..  Lonman I remember when Winchester firearms moved to Tiwain or where ever it was It was a sad day for me. I still got a Winchester 3006 rifle won on a dollar punch board in 46.  It is pre 64 by a bunch..But I still like Studebakers...  LMAO

I know 4 Kj's that have used the 808 for 5-6 years. One even used the jbl soundfactor speakers  1kw 2 kw peak against my recomondations for awhile (for 2 years I told him you need a bigger amp) . Just recently had to refilter one they are good powered mixers.  And they still sell for about $550 on Ebay..

I have 7 of the 808's  some stero some mono ( mono is my preference) they do pack a punch when paired with a high end good speaker, can't understand why more people don't use them for mobile karaoke.
