k... so I subbed another song, but for some reason... now that it's on SS it's SOOO distorted.... just about every other word is cringe-inducing!! (word? doubtful.)
When I recorded it... and when I listen to the recording with Winamp on my 'puter... it sounds really clear. No distortion...
anyone else having this problem with distortion on their SS subs?

Yep - I've been having this happen quite often.
I listen to it on my PC and other places I have it online and it's ok but get it here and ear drums suffer.

So far I have had the best luck with Cool Edit. I have used WinAmp before, not sure how good all the filters, and noise tweaks are with it. Basically when I mix down using about 160 sample or 128 - and 44,000 freq and then check on Windows Media player it usually sounds okay on line. I have been looking at Cubase - and the pricey Sonar 3 Producer -a child of Cakewalk.

you see I'm not even there yet.....can't get CDG graphics that I heard about...and don't know how to record.....I know i have everything I need....but no instructions and the help button is useless to me....just wanna drop one of my CDGs into the tray....click and record....but how is the question.....frustration galore......I have WINAMP and Goldwave....I've downloaded plugins for CDGs....but how do I record my voice and music at the same time....grrrrrrr....I hate computers...I really do.....most of the time help keys are set up for people wuo know more already than I do...you'd think if you looked up record in the index that it would say do this and that ......and presto your recording....not so!.....It Makes My Head Hurt.....singin' in honky tonks is easier... ...I can do that and drink...multi taskin' at it's best.....oh and did I mention the ladies....now that takes multi taskin' to a whole new level....

Cubase is definitely the way to go for audio work... well, in my book, anyway... you just can't beat it
Kkid... I put a link to a step by step guide for recording in CEP... its in the faqs forum...screenshots too so its hopefully nice and easy to follow

I have a problem with distortion once in a while as well...the fix for me is to turn the MAIN volume down on windows recorder/player
Start button , Programs , accessories , entertainment , volume control.
hope that helps.
