I'm just curious how many folks have surround sound speakers on their computers...if so are the two rear speakers actually behind you, or bunched up around your terminal (like me) and do you actually have the surround feature turned on (I usually don't). I'm going to produce a few surround sound songs in the future, and they will be available as I put the mp3 here. You'll need a hight speed connection as the files will be large.

Just so you know, unless you specifically have a surround sound MP3 encoder (they've only recently been developed) it will be simulated surround sound. For those that don't have a surround sound MP3 decoder (again, they have JUST become available) they wouldn't be able to decode the surround sound portion of the 'new' surround MP3 format anyway. BTW, the new surround MP3 format is 100% backward compatible for playback in older MP3 players.

Just an FYI from the technical front.....

And no, I don't have surround sound speakers on my computer. They're generally a waste of time unless you're playing FPS games which I've quit doing on my computer (that's what X-Box and PS/2 is for!).

I don't have surround sound for my computer speakers, but I do have surround sound in my "studio." They are connected to my TV with component cables, and my karaoke machine runs through the DVD/surround sound tuner giving me more sound when I practice at home. I recently discovered the ability to hook my laptop up to it also. It produces better listening quality for me when playing back my recordings in Adobe Audition. However, surround sound is not recommended for vocal use although it suits me just fine for home practicing. It definitely sounds much better than it would if I simply used the karaoke machine.
