was wonder if anyone is using sound choice now..and what do you think of their service as of now?
BTW..have they started putting out any new music yet???

I received an e-mail from SC today.... Sound Choice wrote: We previously asked for song suggestions from you and got some really great ideas. Now we're trying to narrow down some of the great song suggestions we received.
When we requested song suggestions, we got MOSTLY requests for older songs (5 plus years old) and the songs we are asking for additional input (votes) on are "current" (6 months or less) or "newer" songs (5 years or less) filling in some gaps that are not in the Sound Choice® catalog or were produced by very few other manufacturers. We thought that there would be more interest in more recent material, but we have not gotten many requests for such material from KJs. So, please encourage your singers to visit our request page and have them give us THEIR input.
Below are links to various song categories. Would you pick out the genres of music that appeal to you and especially ones you believe will appeal to singers at your shows? Then just click on the links and you can vote for the songs in each category that you would like to see us produce.
Of course, we still have to jump through all the hoops and get permission from the music publishers who control the rights to the songs. But by helping us narrow down our choices, you help bring us closer to the day when we can give you the new Sound Choice® music you'd like to have.
We've already done some pre-screening by removing songs that we know we cannot get rights to and songs that have already been done by several other karaoke manufacturers. Also, we're going to be doing more polls so if a song you suggested is not included here (remember these are only songs released in the last 5 years), it very well may be in a later survey.

Unfortunately the list is very disappointing. Hardly anything i'd be excited about buying. And one of the bands they have listed that I would buy (Volbeat), every song they are considering are already done in the karaoke world and actually done well. Oh well, maybe i'll consider buying the next round and pass on this time.

And isn't that funny... when SC approached us (through Cousin Vinnie's constant posts), they asked us to list songs that have NOT been done by anyone else. BTW, when I saw their Country list, there were only 2 songs on there that I am interested in (and they're already out on KV).

There are 72 songs total with the 6 genres - I think i'd possibly buy 7 total (that aren't already available) and only if they came out as individual downloads.

The fact that they put out yet ANOTHER list of songs that they may/may not produce reeks of the ADVANCED program... And we all know how that turned out. Sorry... SC/PEP had their time in the sun. I have tons of their material and will use what I have, but unless the track is really something special, I probably won't give them cash.

For current stuff all they have to do is visit the KV and Select-A-Track sites to view what the top sellers are. Of course those are already available, or they wouldn't be top sellers.
For stuff people really want that isn't already available, they just have to visit the KV site and look at the voting on the suggested songs listing. It's thousands of suggestions, sorted by what's been voted for the most.
All their work has already been done for them.

From a business point of view, it makes little or no sense for SC/PEP to release any new material. Most of us are getting our music from KV, SBI, Sunfly, Zoom, etc. With no disrespect to SC/PEP, these labels produce excellent quality tracks that are equal to and in some cases surpass SC quality.
Popular new songs, are already out there. One or more of them have it. As far as songs that have never been released... if a lot of people requested it, it would have been made.
I don't think that SC can contribute anything to the market at this point. And beside, do you really want to go through all that licensing bullsh*t? Remember, the UK companies don't have the inane legal crap that we have here in the U.S.
If I was SC, I would concentrate on coming out with the next new thing in karaoke. Don't know what that might be but it would have to be the next generation of karaoke. Something new that will put a twist on karaoke as we know it and take it to the next level.
That's what I'd be concentrating on if I were SC/PEP. Something that's never been done before. Think.
