kkid, tell us how you're recording yourself...

for most, I recommend (highly) the freeware program goldwave with this program, you can do a "batch conversion" of any file or groups of files, and save them as a SPECIFIC mp3 type, but you can choose which mp3 bit rate you wish to convert to.

usually, what best works is the 80kbps or 92kbps, depending on song length.

Hey Spankie -

I haven't had the opportunity to listen to your sub yet I don't think but I will in a little while.

Just had a quick question for you. You have such an unusual icon -- it's very dramatic. Just wondering where you found it or came up with it?

Oh.. that is lil ole me.. I am a graphic designer/photagrapher. My best friend took some studio shots of me a couple of years ago and I really liked that picture so I did some of that "graphic design magic" on it.
Hey! I do freelance work if you ever need anything!

Can anyone tell me what mic is best for recording into your computer, where do you go for karaoke music that displays on the screen, and speakers so I can hear the music correctly. Just learning, be patient....

The best way to get the music on your computer is to rip your existing discs with MP3+G Toolz (do a search to get the download, etc). Playback once they're ripped can be done with WinAmp and the CDG plugin (also search for these downloads).

As for the 'best' mic to record on the computer with, a professional sound card or mixer connected to a balanced mic is best. I won't go into dynamic vs. condensor mics or which of these is 'best' because it's a VERY subjective term.

I have good luck with the Fender P-51, but it requires more gain. The Sennheiser e835 and Shure SM58 are both good mics. All of these will require you to get either a mixer or a professional sound card that supports XLR connections to mics.

It's a short post but if you read up on MP3+G Tools many of your questions will be answered.

Note that if you plan to record you'll either have to play the music back out through the mixer or record 2 inputs (one digital music, the other analog mic) which not all sound cards support. Another possibility is to record the voice only and add the orignal music file as a seperate track. Feel free to ask questions, and remember to search in the archives and the existing forum. There is lots of good posts on ripping the discs and recording on your computer.
