so am I a professional in the traditional sense? Probably not but I think Jim & Kurt realized that I was doing everything I could to become one and cut me a break cause I was following the rules and I personally believe that they would do the same for anyone in my position that was following their rules. So it's not like they are selling to every tom dick and Harry who has $5000 to spend on a karaoke product.

You were formerly a professional KJ, had to quit for reasons beyond your control, then contacted us when you began trying to get back into it. We evaluate every situation on its own merits. We consider you a professional KJ, end of story.

-James

I'll bet you they would happy to lease it to every person holding money. They'd just "evaluate every situation on a case-by-case basis" and every person holding a case of money... qualifies. Doesn't seem to matter if you were a KJ, or just want to be a KJ.... or even if you have a single gig that would fun a monthly payment to them.

And Paradigm was right: KJ's used to have to provide venue information for verification that they actually are currently in the business and operating as a professional. Apparently, that "professional qualification step" has been tossed right out the window in favor of a contract and a monthly payment plan.

It appears that any "rule" is changed, bent or ignored as long as the direction of money is from you to them. I would doubt that they've turned anyone down... ever.

I don't have the exact numbers, but last I saw, we've turned down around fifty applicants for various reasons--non-professionals, credit issues, compliance issues, pending litigation, etc.

We do require that the user be a professional. In James's case, he met our requirements. And, truth be known, I'll take a thousand of him before if even consider taking one of you, Mr. Staley.

The better question is, why do you care? What's it to you?

While driving home last night listing to one of my favorite albums this song came on and it hit me as fitting perfectly into SC/PEP's situation. Funny how it comes from one of the most advocates against Karaoke which SC just felt they had to make a disc. So SC/PEP take note and follow the last couple of lines of the song.

EAGLES LYRICS
"Get Over It"

I turn on the tube and what do I see
A whole lotta people cryin' "Don't blame me"
They point their crooked little fingers ar everybody else
Spend all their time feelin' sorry for themselves
Victim of this, victim of that
Your momma's too thin; your daddy's too fat

Get over it
Get over it
All this whinin' and cryin' and pitchin' a fit
Get over it, get over it

You say you haven't been the same since you had your little crash
But you might feel better if I gave you some cash
The more I think about it, Old Billy was right
Let's kill all the lawyers, kill 'em tonight
You don't want to work, you want to live like a king
But the big, bad world doesn't owe you a thing

Get over it
Get over it
If you don't want to play, then you might as well split
Get over it, Get over it

It's like going to confession every time I hear you speak
You're makin' the most of your losin' streak
Some call it sick, but I call it weak

You drag it around like a ball and chain
You wallow in the guilt; you wallow in the pain
You wave it like a flag, you wear it like a crown
Got your mind in the gutter, bringin' everybody down
Complain about the present and blame it on the past
I'd like to find your inner child and kick its little (@$%&#!)

Get over it
Get over it
All this bitchin' and moanin' and pitchin' a fit
Get over it, get over it

Get over it
Get over it
It's gotta stop sometime, so why don't you quit
Get over it, get over it

"We've turned down?" Since your recent formation? I don't think so. You may be talking about the defunct Slep-Tone Entertainment, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't PEP.

(1) "non-professional?" You apparently have relaxed your standards for this quite a bit. No longer does a KJ have to provide you with venue information... or even have a single "professional job" even if it's for no pay.... So based on that, the logical conclusion is that there really is no "professional standard" here at all.

(2) "credit issues" This one I can understand. There's no use in shipping anything to anyone with no credit or a bad credit history on a payment plan... Of course, you could always accept a few payment in advance before shipping anything..... oh... I see, you've already done that...

(3) "compliance issues?" What the heck is that? Compliance with what?

(4) "pending litigation" This hasn't stopped anyone from getting it... it's simply increased the price as a settlement device.

Of course he "met your requirements" by sending you money... that's the only real requirement (anymore).

And, I'd have to agree with you... If I were you, I'd take a thousand of him over me too. He sends you money... I don't... (I've been costing you.. in more than just money)

If everything you do is on the up and up, why should you care if I care?

I don't care what you think or care about, Mr. Staley.

I care about people having accurate information about what we're doing.

You care about damaging SC, and you'll make up "facts" as needed, so I'm obligated to respond to correct the record.

Of course you do.... don't kid yourself.

So do I, but I care about all the information, including information you have quietly omitted.

I don't have to "care about damaging SC" because Slep-Tone doesn't exist (anymore) remember? I've been in business almost 20 years longer than PEP just about everyone on this board has too. You're obligated to present your client in the best light possible -- no matter they (and you) do. You really don't seem to have much regard at all about any "record" much less a correct one.
