Did all my Thanksgiving shopping yesterday......now all I crave is something I can't have for a couple more days!!!!!

Do you cook your turkey a special way?

Do you have an odd side dish?

Any special traditions you follow on that day??

Just curious :)

For me......nothing special about how I cook it.....

Special side dish... Hrmm...I'm making something called "Soap Suds"...basically it's cherry JELLO (yes Jello DD)......let it set, add fruit cocktail minus any pineapple..........and then just before serving, add a TON of whipping cream and mix it all in....looks like soap suds lol And i'll be making a pumpkin roll......YUMMY!!

Traditions - We go around the table after dinner and tell everyone what we're thankful for this year......

Nicole

Thanksgiving at my place this year instead of the in-laws, that's the new tradition.

Side dishes same ol, same ol....the 'soap suds' sounds interesting though, might try that one!

Cookin' the turkey the same way if I can find him.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

we have one of those Ronco rottiserrie "Set it And Forget It" machine. Last year, we did a small turkey in it for Xmas... everyone raved about how good it tasted. Normally, we have leftovers... not that year!

last year we had a fried turkey..and trust me..if you ever have one you will never go back!!!! lol lawdddd it was so tender and juicy...course i like the traditional cornbread dresssin in my bird so i did miss that..

but i was listenin to the radio on the way to work..and some lady said..that the way to get a tender juicey turkey was to do the following..

coat a large paper bag with cooking oil.
coat turkey with oil...
season..
stuff that bugger..
pop him in that paper bag..
cook at 350 (no higher unless u crave a visit from the fire dept)
fifteen minutes per pound...

she said when they took ole turk outa the b ag he literally fell to pieces they didnt have to even carve it!!!!!!!!!

so..i got me a bigggg paper b ag..and a fire estinquisher just in case :)

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Kass, that sounds good. Now you all are giving me some ideas. Maybe I'll fix 12 turkeys this year!

Now if this paper bag thing doesn't work for me, I'll be moseying on down to your place for dinner. :D

oorrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...after reading Tammy's post, maybe I just won't bother with fixing anything and head out her way! I am so hungry right now.
