I have been speaking in public for almost 20 years now. I never stop trying to learn from other speakers how to capture the attention of an audience. I constantly look at and review speeches, good and bad, so I can do better at my day job.

I ran across this speech in part because House Of Cards is a phenomenal show, but mostly because Kevin Spacey is an amazing actor and an outstanding public speaker.

More importantly, a small section of his speech mentions something that most of the US based karaoke companies can learn from.

Watch this excellent speech and pay very close attention to what Kevin Spacey says starting at 2:25 -

I am standing up and giving a five minute ovation. ESPECIALLY to the part at 2:25. Many of us here have been shouting this as loudly as we can and it falls on certain deaf ears. Believe what you want, certain deaf ears, but the truth is true.

This also goes back to the points I have made about cloud computing and the future of distribution for all things media.

That is exactly what EVERYONE has been saying. And what is the big deal? The people who created the music still own the rights, they still make their royalties. They would have more SALES. Excellent find, Chris. Thanks for sharing.

Very true! Spacey IS talking about "cloud media" when he talks of his endeavor. These are things that do make getting the proper content much easier than when many of us started collecting content. They are added things an established KJ will need to consider.

The future is NOT in bulk sales. It's the exact opposite. What I mean by that is, the future will be more and ore about on demand content. Bulk sales may be an option offered that only a few will find attractive, but the demand will be on demand in one form or another.

exactly what i and others have been saying for a long time...
give the KJ the songs they want, when they are hot, in the format they want it, at a reasonable price and they will buy.
great find Chris.

....And after the KJ BUYS the product, don't threaten (and actually) SUE your paying customers.

I am not sure how many people would be interested in hearing me talk about Windows Azure Infrastructure as a Service, System Center 2012, or how using Windows Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 enables and advances hybrid cloud scenarios. I don't have any recordings of any recent live events, but I have interviewed a few people in the last few years -

Can't believe I JUST found this post. Thanks Chris.

If there are any people who are associated in ANY way with a karaoke producing company and you haven't watched. WATCH IT AND TAKE A HINT and pass it on to the people in charge!!
