I am researching a book about the evolution of singing culture in the United States. I am curious about how the karaoke market has evolved since the 1970s. Is there anyone out there who knows where I can find data about the growth of the online karaoke market versus the traditional offline karaoke market? I'm trying in particular to figure out if the online market is bigger or smaller than the offline one. I'm also interested to know what kinds of apps / websites / video games people are going to get their karaoke fix if it isn't in a bar. Please get in touch if you can shed any light on these questions! Thanks.
If someone could get you a copy of the video from the karaoke summit in Nashville last summer, you'd have a lot of great info from some of the leaders in the industry. I watched it live and haven't seen a recorded copy yet but they discussed that exact topic. Anyhow, after watching it, I'd have to say your best bet would be to contact Bob Latshaw at Latshaw Systems. Out of all the people I've ever seen talk about the subject of karaoke, he seems the most knowledgable. He also seemed to be the only industry leader who actually sings karaoke himself. After the summit in Nashville, all of the speakers were taken out to an MMA fight in Nashville by some Hollywood big wig. Mr. Latshaw declined so he could go sing karaoke on Nashville's main drag, and he was the only one in attendance who did. To me, that speaks volumes.
just email
support@latshawsystems.com and ask to make sure its forwarded to Bob. I'm sure he'd be glad to help you with your project.
