Hey All,

Ok I think I'm on the right track now and I might switch out the NuMark KMX02 combo karaoke mixer for a few separate components.  I should have done this in the first place, but I might keep it as a backup system.

One of the nice things the KMX02 had was a video slider (Crossfader) to switch what side you wanted to output to the monitors...

So if I ditch the NuMark and go with an American Audio 350 CD+G Player and the T1 ToneMatch System for the Bose then I need to get a video switcher.

I was able to get a 30' shielded RCA (Composite) cable for $19 online and it works great!  I also know I should get a RF modulator so I will have the ability to patch in to the bar tvs...

What are people using out there to switch the video?  Would I be dreaming if they made an all in one unit that switches from 2 or so composite video sources, had a built in RF modulator / splitter and was Rack Mountable?

Thanks!

Tim :)

Nice!  That one looks perfect!

I don't trust the auto switchers with karaoke, because I would think that when you cue up a disc that the video will start playing for a second and wonder how the auto switcher would handle it.  Plus if it's big bucks I wouldn't be able to afford it because of all the other stuff.  :)

Thanks!!

Tim

That is almost identical to the one I use for my other 2 systems. The brand is RCA but this unit is $26 vs $39 for RCA.  The RCA's are available at Best Buy if you need one right away and cant wait for shipping.

One last thing...If you ever decide to go laptop or PC you will need S-Video IN on the RF box. I didn't check the other unit that karyoker suggested for this feature but if you have plans down the road to go PC you will not have to repurchase another unit. You can purchase a adapter to go from RCA jacks to S-Video for like $15 so no big deal.

I just checked the specs on the $26 one, it does not have S-Video Inputs. Here is the link to best buy and they have one that has both RCA and S-Video it for $35. If you click on the view image you can look at both front and back views. This is the same model I have.

If you only have two video out sources (2 players) all you need is an A/B switch.  You want to switch the video from the players from RCA to coax to feed the bar TVs.

If you only have a laptop (1 video source) you still need everything but the A/B switch.

Go into the RF Modulator as RCA come out as coax (like CABLE TV).  Go into an RF Amplifier as coax and come out as coax (power boosted) to as many TVs as you want.  It will feed 4 without a problem.

Radio Shack  RF AMPLIFIER   1 in, 4 out

This is what I use
http://www.audio-discounters.com/m61151.html .
Has a built in RF modulator for those bars with cable coax tvs or can use the video RCA or S-Video out as well (I actually use both the coax & RCA video out simultaneously) - video split from each player one into converter, the other into a small 5" cue monitor at the host booth.  Also it takes RCA & S-Video inputs.
You don't want a an auto video switcher, it will do just as you said & try switching as you are cueing up the next disc.

THe RF converter from Rat Shack is around $30 by itself.  Absolutely no need, a video switcher with an RF converter built in like the one I linked to is all he'd need for current & possible expansion if he added players later & it's only $20 at the source linked to.

Lonnie

Your magnavox unit is identical to my RCA unit from Best Buy

It has Coax outs, S-Video In, RCA In, and is an RF Modulator w/4 position switch

Does it boost the signal for multiple TVs?   Like an RF amplifier?

Never needed to, I only have run 5 tv's (off coax with splitter) & it runs perfectly.  But ran at a club that I ran 9 tv's (all coax with splitter) & still never needed a booster/amplifier, no signal degradation.
