first let me say merry xmas and happy new year to my fellow karaoke friends. heres the problem i have a friend that owns a local bar that has been doing karaoke for several years. one day he comes by the house and want's to pc based i show him how it works and he loves it.. well he goes out and purchases a hp pavilion a6212n-b pc.he gets a good deal on it even tho its running vista home premium. (still not a vista fan).
back to the problem it only has a vga out no other video out to run a dual monitor setup. i have found a usb product that will give me another vga (tritton see2 usb2.0 to vga adapter} hookup but then i must convert it to a rca jack to supply his other tv monitors..do the converters vga to rca jack cables work? i have read mixed reviews. would i be better off installing a new video card and can i do that without voiding the warranty....thank....cal

Most desktops will not run a two monitor setup without an extra video card (laptops generally can run two separate monitors).

In general you want the pc to run to two separate monitors for karaoke, a splitter is not optimal, as the KJ may be setting up the next singer while the current singer is singing.

Installing a video card is easy and if you are not comfortable doing it, most stores like best buy will do it for a small fee.

see, this is what I hate about prepackaged bundles.

Seems like a great deal, but Windows Vista is a pain to deal with.

Now you have to install another video card that will allow the dual video setup.

tell him to take it back where he got it, and have them install a dual video card that will work with Vista.

thanks guys i have put in a few video cards over the years i  think thats what i'm going to install an extra video card  instead of going the usb route. i have been looking at a few on the net  what do you think for a added card would be a good choice 256 or 512 etc.  vista is quirkey but i finally did get good sound out of my laptop with usb sound card. any certain brand of video card that ya'll have had good experience with? or prefer  thanks cal

Fraid I can't help ya on the video card FOR Vista... only for XP and win2k. You have to have one that's Vista compatible. That's why I said to go back to where you got it and ask THEM what will work... and that's not saying you can find a program that will work with the karaoke stuff once ripped... that's saying if you CAN rip them with Vista...

I HATE Vista! LOL!
