Some of us kjs were sitting around the other day just talking about all the junk CD+G players on the market right now. And i commented most of them don't have the single play capability. I was surprised how many said it didn't matter to them, if their player or computer had single play capabilities or not. Not me, i couldn't get by without it. Do most of you use the single play feature on your players or computers, or doesn't it matter to you, and you just stop the disc after each song by pushing the stop button?

Don't matter to me, I usually manually work the machine anyway. If the singing is over & the singer is off the stage I fade out the song & cue up the next. I could see it being a problem if you needed to let it play out to the end - some of the outros can be pretty long on some discs, I don't have the time to let them play out most nights.

Software stops after each song.
I know what your talking about, when I used cd+g many moons ago. The JVC plays stop after each song.

I use a computer setup myself as well. But there are a few kj's up round these parts that still use machines. Well, for that matter around the country many still do. I don't like hacking off the song, especially if there are dancers out there. Which is most likely at our club. I don't care how long the outro is, or who's waiting, if it's part of the song i play it. I work the crowd, so i would be lost without the single play feature, to busy to be a slave to the machine. Was just curious, apparently it doesn't matter to most.....okeeeeee thanks

We never stop if there are dancers, but normally as soon as the singer is done we are on the mic chattering and hit the fade to player2 (fill). After a few words player2 is playing and the crowd doesnt know the difference. No silence whatsoever...Then in a few seconds we are calling the next singer up. Most dont tarry either. If they do then we are telling who is on deck or making idle chatter with somebody in the crowd.

Yeah if a singer books, then i go to fade sometimes, unless i like the song or we have dancers, or i'm out talking to someone in the crowd. Yeah i don't like hacking a song either. I know a lot of country songs have those long outros. Merle Haggards "Sit Right Here And Drink" and Alan Jackson's " I Don't Even Know Your Name" are just two that come to mind. The outros are as long as the singing parts I most generally announce towards the end of every song, or during a fade.

And you know 10 different hosts can do it the same way and with each their personality affects the singers and crowd.. The only time I host is when my host is on a cig break. One announcement from me and the whole ambience changes not for better or worse it is different.
We both when we do sing try to intro a song or make some comment to the crowd even our singers do this too while the song is getting to the singing part.
I didnt get into my storage until yesterday to unload. Right next to my unit a young couple was moving in. They looked familiar He came running over.. ur the karaoke guy Yea We used to come down to the VFW and sing Then I knew them.... So now they know where I'm at now..

I do wonder if we are overdoing it though Last sat due to weather we didnt have a full crowd but the 2 weekends before we had SRO 3 people deep up to the bar They had to fight to get in they had to fight to go smoke. Each sat we had a knockdown dragout call the cops fight. All we fear is them falling into our stuff..
When you have wall to wall people you have to crank The wall on the opposite side is cinder blocks with verbs a bunch it SUCKS big time..
And the frustrating part about it there is the empty pizza parlor which would hold 600 easy and the owner wants to just use it for parties and banquets and didnt tell me until it was too late to advertise for holiday parties. He is in limbo right now and we have a very good relationship and communication going The potential in this place is driving me nuts Him too!!!! After the first we will figure it out
In years of karaoke I have hardly ever seen a fight let alone 2 weekends in a row.

oh wow....you be careful my friend, we enjoy you being on the forum here, and appreciate your insight and years of knowledge. I know the equipment is important, but you are even more important. Watch those morons trying to kill each other. Flying beer bottles and ash trays are deadly. :argue:
