hi all,

i'm running MTU's Hoster from my laptop, but i have a laptop that does not have an S video out.  do any of you know of an adapter for USB to RCA, 9-pin to RCA, or 1-6pin to RCA?  I basically need a way to get the video output to the singer's video monitor.  on my other laptop i have S video, so i've never had a need for this information.  Thanks!

well...

http://usb-port.com/uvd204.html

it's expensive, but it's a way to add s-video to a pc that doesn't have it.

this is where building or buying a system to your needs, and NOT trying to convert a system to what will work for you pays in the end...

One reason I hate laptops is it's not so easy to add video options... I'd rather have a microatx box than a laptop, as you can have a large enough hard drive in the box, and don't need external ANYTHING! But that's me personally!

While I agree with your philosophy on buying right the first time, I wasn't into karaoke when I bought my desktop or laptop PC. I'm having to make do! :( This hobby has snowballed on me anyway! Seems no matter what I have, it's not quite what I need!...lol...

I've considered getting a dual output SVGA video card to equip my old desktop as a backup. I currently use a 15"LCD PC monitor for singers monitor (no S-Video available).  Have you had any experience using a dual out VGA card?

Jim

the microatx system is a shuttle...it only has room for one 5.25 drive and one hard drive. Since with my show computer I don't use the 5.25 drive to keep people from accusing me of stealing their tracks... you can buy an adaptor to put in a regular 3.25 drive (sata or ide hard drive)...

When I need to rip tracks, I usually do that on my home pc, or on this one with a usb plextor drive (a regular ide cd drive installed in a usb external).

Anyway, the shuttle usually has room for half height cards, or in a couple cases, regular sized cards that are built smaller... or they have their OWN s-video installed with the motherboard... they also have front usb as well as the four or six on the back...

I also have used the triple out (s-video, dvi and regular vga outs)... I love the multiple video cards!
