Something strange happen tonight.

The bar owner open the place early and he was setting up to practise a new song before the regulars come in. I help him with the mixing. He did two runs of the same song but in different key setting. Both of us were in the KJ booth. There was one other people around.

Just before he finished the song a 'ghost' voice can be clearly heard from the speaker, singing some English song. He used the KJ mic (cabled) to sing and there are 2 other mics still in the mic box ( both wireless) but with the switch turned off. The mic receiver was on.

He (the owner of the bar) though I was singing those line and turn around to see that I was not holding a mic.
I tried very hard to find out where that voice come from: I turned off the player playing the background/filler music, the voice was still there; I then turned off the main player and it was still there.

The voice was male and the song that that voice sang was just a few words of a song but in a very clear style. One of the song was by Lobo. Then it went off by itself.

Where the heck did that voice come from? Any idea?

Are your mics UHF or VHF? I am betting the latter, and that there was another microphone operating somewhere in the area.

Sometimes electrical sound systems can pick up other broadcasts if things are just right.

Many years ago I was in an airport listening to a cassette tape player. The cassette had NO radio, it was only a cassette walkman type player.

I could hear the conversations of the radio tower to the planes through my system when I had it turned on. Not barely, completly clear as day.

If the problem continues, avoid wireless mics completely.

Sometimes it could be from a local Ipod to FM radio type device of a car stopped nearby. Some of them are not extremely tight on their frequency, and could be on the same freq as the mic as well.

Several years ago doing a gig with the blues band from outta nowhere a female trucker's voice came through the lead guitar player's amp when she was obviously in an, ahem, rather risque convo with another trucker lol.  The funniest part came when she started describing her bosom which according to her words was "very small"--the whole time this was going on I kept denying it was me--in which the whole crowd burst out laughing because I errrrrrmmmmmmm, am endowed we'll say lol.

Anywhoooooooo, when you have electronic devices operating on the same frequencies strange things can happen  LMAO

Mics are VHF, receiver - on
                   mics switch,  OFF
                   mixer gain/vol,  set to normal

There is an other bar across the street but they use cabled mics only.

There must be some signals licking into the system. I try and set it up again tonight and see if it is still there.

Some people have been known to pick up radio signals through their dental work.......now if we could just turn their ears into speakers....some people would actually be worth hanging around...... :)

here's a funny one. A buddy of mine had his wireless mike coming clear as day through a friend's walkman.

The main reason I went into electronics for 40 years I went into town and plugged in my guitar amp All of a sudden  CQ CQ CQ DX This is WYCH Fort Collins Colorado and standing by.. The rest is history :D

And the thing I loved it the most was.......Nothing was ever the same You cant apply simple little rules to electronics Oh you need this cable and you gotta do this.... And the fact I went from tubes to large scale IC integrated ckts. What they are doing now blows my mind.

in the olden days of CB radio we would call these signals that travel great distances beyond the normal broadcasting range, "Skip".

Not really sure what the conditions are for signals to hitch hike around the frequencies in the air but it happens...

Radio waves are all around us, the air is so full of them.  If you could actually see them you would freak out...
Sometimes I think these micro-waves cause us health problems.

Gotta love those wireless sytems that are frequency agile and auto-scanning... real easy to set up and avoid such problems! :)
