Okay I am going to strip my stupidity naked and display it for the world to see. What is FOH?

And I have never heard of slapback (but I LOVE the name, hehe). Our mixer (sorry, I do not remember the make/model) has two effects channels; we have one set for vocal reverb and one for vocal echo. Is the echo the slapback or do I need to keep looking? I am liking the sound so far and the tweaking I can do fir different singers.

Oh, back on topic. we don't even HAVE a vocal monitor right now although you can hear the mains pretty well. It is far from ideal, but it beats going on faith, which I hate to do.

I like my monitor dry. Some nights I think I am an idiot because of the horrible blows to my ego, but I can't fix a problem unless I know it exists. When we get a vocal monitor (and it will happen, rest assured) I am thinking we can run enough reverb through them that singers think they sound good. (That sounded mean and I didn't intend it to.) We have a lot of good singers, but not necessarily hard-care enough to want zero effects.

FOH is the audience area Front Of House FOH engineer or sound man is in that area to hear what the audience hears and can adjust accordingly.

Oh good grief I am even stupider than I thought! Or maybe I need more coffee...I got the front-of-house concept down just didn't put it together with FOH.

Thanks!

One of the best investments. snake

I replaced 5&6 in the stage box with chassis mount males for the mains. And put females on the other end. Mounted a 1/4 jack in the box for the stage monitor same on feed end. On 8 I put an RCA jack and run video to the stage monitor with a DIY xlr to RCA adapter.

One caution Never put stress on the mixer end. Once you get used to FOH mix (so much easier) you cant go back to the stage.
