Um...Johnny...did you know that "fluffing" is also a term used in the porn industry?  :O LOL.... be careful when you claim such a proclivity to it   :oh yeah:

I'd be an easy fluff then........all she'd have to do is say "hello", and I'd be ready to go...... LOL ......maybe not for long, but she'd have already met my #1 and only criteria.........being a woman.....that's a fluff in it's self........now I have to go look up "proclitity"....already pretty sure I'm for it....   .... EWWWWW.....I smell somethin' now. LOL
I knew someday I would fly the coop and say too much here.

As Johnny said.....I really don't mind the fluffing, it's not that at all. And I don't hold it against anyone for doing it. I never ask for critique, but I don't discourage it if anyone wants to be totally honest with me on a just for fun subbing.
That's not why I'm at SS. I'm in it for the interaction with others....good or bad.
I just haven't been sharing as frequently as others do, so that makes me a waste of time to some. I can relate to that....it's only fair...right?

I hope nobody was too offended that I spoke my mind finally. I wish I could be here more, but my priorities are work, money to pay my bills, and a few hours with my family when I get home. Whenever I try to spend a day on the pc, I get behind on other stuff, and that gets me in trouble at home. My wife despises my hobby, so I'm walkin' a thin line whenever I log on here.
I do enjoy that she thinks all of the women here are my girlfriends though!! Makes me know she still cares. LMAO

Critque to me in Singer Showcase doesn't mean the singer is bad. It's just tweeking an already almost perfect performance. If you are looking for something to critque you'll find something to better, even if it's a professional singer.

It's funny I happened to listen to a Neil Diamond CD this weekend and thought Murlin sounds better than that. It was a live performance and it was far from perfect.

Thanks for all the replies to this topic guys :talk:

I can see I might have opened a can of worms with this one...

I appreciate the candidness of the remarks I have gotten so far in the SS.

Vikki flat out told me that I should take it down a notch when my voice is straining, and a couple others have hinted at it and I appreciate the honesty.

I always thought that if you can't sing in the key of the original artist, you shouldn't do the song.  So I have tried to do that.   But I am re-evaluating that position...

I have a karaoke channel on YouTube, and get a few hits, but no one comments and so I do not know what anyone thinks.

That is why I subbed in the SS, to hit a captive audience and get real feedback....

Everyone has different reasons for subbing in the SS.  Mine are simple.

All the feedback will help me improve my craft.

And perhaps get more cheers than jeers when I go out for a night out...

I don't consider myself a 10.  Probably a 4 or 5...but I am my own worst critic...

I would rather get an honest 5 than a fake 10 rating...but if you think I am a 10, man that makes it even better...woot!!! :oh yeah: The fact that you have 20 views and no rank  on a sub should tell you that you are not a 10 anyway, but it doesn't tell you what you are....you could be a 1.....

Does a negative comment hurt ones ego?

Of course it does, but not for long...  after all we have to have an ego if we ask for ranking in the first place.  I have a competitive nature and like competition...

It's all good :beermates:

Oh heck no not at all....  I kinda already thought that but I want to always sing in the original key whenever possible...but I think you made a good call there...

I want people to tell me what they think... :beermates:

Otherwise how is one to improve.

I think oneofakind has a good Idea on a Singers Workshop.  :headscratch:

I have a problem with itchy posting syndrome and one day it sounds ok and the next it sounds horrible to me so I delete it and do it again...  Like Photograph...man I subbed a couple of trainwrecks in a row...On the SAME song :banghead:

I think a place to work up songs would be great.  I mean after all...the whole world can Google you in the SS...that is why I deleted all my subs when I discovered that LOL

Hey guys.  Coming back here and reading on, I realized that, yes, maybe my ego is more active than I'd thought. LOL

Here's why......last Friday night, I went out to karaoke when I was away on my job. That's the only time I ever go out to karaoke.....my wife doesn't like the bar scene, and I'm not so fond of it myself either. It's just the only way to get out and sing live I guess.
Well, I started out with a mellow country love song. After which, I noticed some of the younger crowd was doing rock and stuff creating more of a party like atmosphere. I felt a little embarrassed that I kept it so mellow.....even though a couple did dance to my song.
So what'd I do next? I went out and brought in my Soundgarden tracks even though I stated to the kj earlier that I wasn't going to do any screaming songs tonight.
This particular bar has always made me feel much at ease while facing the crowd.....I've always liked the ambience of the place....it's really cool.......large, open area with neon beer signs surrounding all four walls, and the sound seems to bounce off of those walls nicely.
Anyhow, I get up to do my favorite of the 4 tracks..."Blow Up The Outside World" feeling pretty confident that I'd pull it off.
During one of the breaks in the song, out came a HUGE WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!! from alot of people. THAT boosted my ego like nothing ever had! LOL
I went on to finish the song. Afterwards, I felt like I blew it away and got several compliments on it from others.
But really, after realizing what I just did, it seemed like I was just trying to show up the singers before me. One guy was even looking at me later while he sang like he was waiting for a nod of approval.
I've always said that I don't like to be competitive with this stuff.....it's all for fun. But when things happen like they did that night, it's the greatest feeling!
I did lose my voice later on from trying to talk to people while the music was blaring, so my last couple songs were pretty sucky. LMAO

I know the song I did earlier wasn't totally perfect, but I think people were astounded that this older dude in the Hawaiian shirt that did a country song just blew 'em all away. :oh yeah:
There were some excellent singers there too!! Guys and gals!! It was fun!!

Woot!! :hi5:

Way to go dude!!!

Rock on....

Ya, we are all competitive and want to show off a little...

The ones who say they don't ...

Well....one word.   D-E-N-I-A-L... ROFL

I mean look at the SS....it sells spots for peoples ego, ...Nutin' wrong with it.

:headscratch: Kinda wish I'd thought of it...  LMAO

Yes mam I'm sorry..I deleted them all...

They are still on my YouTube site. (see link below my siggy)

I got to reading about the Karaoke Radio and thought that was really neat. Unfortunately, I didn't consider any of my subs to be good enough to have a chance of being chosen for the Radio show.  They were put together to hastily and every one of them had mistakes that I did not like.

So I decided to turn over a new leaf, take my time, and try to produce something worthy.

I did however notice that the last show was in 2005 :headscratch:

Now I am wondering if I missed the boat  :grumble:  ROFL

Oh well......
