Ah yeah, that contest is going on here too. I came about this (holding thumb and pointer finger about an inch apart).. close from trying out for that myself. My little brother was trying to talk me into it. Here, you submit 2 songs via cd to the radio station... and they pick 20 people from the entries to compete at the fair.
I was thinking..... hmmm, that's not so bad, I could give it a shot, what could it hurt.... But then, reality hit-
if by chance I got picked as one of the 20, I'd have to sing IN FRONT of people.

And I wouldn't be able to handle the rejection of not being chosen... so I'm better of just living in la-la land, and singing for you all and the crowd at my local karaoke joint. (and trying to look like a hot Diva while I do) LOL
You have to sing two songs? I'd say pick a nice slow one that shows off your vocal chords a bit (with some upper and lower range required...Teardrops on My Guitar?) , and for the second do one of the upbeat in-your-face type songs that make ya sound nice n' sassy. Cause I've heard you do both styles, and (no fluff) you do an excellent job at each. I'd pick newer songs maybe... just not ones that have already been beat to death at karaoke. (unless it's one you can nail better than most other people) Personally, I think if you can get an "OMG.. I
love this song" reaction from the judges when your music first starts... then you're already ahead of the game.
But again, what the hell do I know? Lol
