okay, I just bought a system to add to my dj rig, but I have no idea what to call this little "business."  Any ideas for good karaoke names?  The only thing I can think of is "Kudos Karaoke."

First in foremost like any business venture you get into you must develop a business plan that includes 'Mission & Vision Statements". This will form the structure of what you are and what you want to become. The name of a business is one of the very first things a customer sees and more often they form an opinion of what you can do or not do. Example, someone might see Kudos Karaoke and would assume this is not someone who could dj my wedding because even though it might say "we offer dj services" the name gives the impression this isnt a focus area of the company. Now when I first started my main focus and love was and still is Karaoke so I was going to name the company BK Karaoke (no not burger King), but after developing a business plan and going over the vision of what I want to become and the mission statment of what the company would represent I knew then that BK Karaoke would limit my growth and prevent me from growing as a company. I envisioned a company that would offer more than just Karaoke. I would offer dj, video, and photography services at some point. Knowing what I wanted to do,  I teamed up with a guy who was a local radio dj and was a videographer who had the same vision I had and who I could trust. So we named the company 2 guys productions. Now we do Karaoke shows and contest that are true productions. Just sit down and ask yourself what do I want this to become?

My name is unique enough to use as the name of my business.  I keep karaoke in the name because I'M primarily a karaoke host, and DJ on the side.  If you are primarily a DJ then I would omit it.

IMO

Keep the process of selecting a name for your business simple.
My wife and I own a corporation (not that you need to) that has many d/b/a's (DOING BUSINESS AS).

Pick a name for you karaoke business that will identify it for what it is.  If you expand into providing other services, you can adjust.  I recommend you might consider something along this line at the point when you're just starting out.

                     ENTERTAINMENT ENTERPRISES (main business name)
                                   presents
                            Entertainment Karaoke (d/b/a)

                                Saturday 9PM-1AM
                                            @
                            ABC LOUNGE AND GRILL

Then, when and if, Entertainment Enterprises expands into other services you can add another d/b/a or change your existing one (e.g. Entertainment Karaoke and DJ Services).

PS.  Your d/b/a can most definitely be about "you" rather than the clientele.  That is, it does not have to  go along the lines of:
         (you) Be A Star Karaoke
         (you are) Starstruck Karaoke
