Sorry Perry I hadnt read this thread since it began as the funny it started out to be...Im soo sorry about your father in law & probs at home but please dont give up these are times where you need to keep strong...Im going thru almost the same with my mom shes dying of emphysema & found out she has lung cancer, she did chemo for a while but with the emphysema already her body couldnt take the whole bout of it but it did shrink over 50% of it. The Dr.s say the emphysema will get her before the cancer anyway...they gave her 2 weeks to 6 months in September..Theyve already called in Hospice, its hard watching this but I just know in my heart everything is ok there is a reason for this....I just treasure the time we have left...I hope you & your family stick together & help eachother thru this. Everything will be ok. In my prayers...

Hi everyone. Sorry I took so long coming back. I appreciate the condolences by all. I wasn't real close to my father-in-law in the last 10 years or so. He was a heavy drinker and pretty much shooed everyone away alot. This was after he became unable to work after an on-the-job serious spinal back injury.
But, I still respected him for the rock that he was to his family. He was like the "John Wayne" of working men. He never let his family down. I think he gave up when he was no longer able to tackle the tough jobs any longer.
I think he respected me too for taking care of his daughter and never asking for help at all. Not so with the other guys. Well....they all ended up in divorce except for my wife and I.
I noticed he looked sick for a few years, but we didn't learn of the cancer until recently. Then, it all happened so fast, and he was gone in a matter of months.
There was a huge attendance at the wake and services, then again at the military graveside rites.
I hope he's resting now.

Thanks again for your sympathy...I'm sure my wife would appreciate it also.  :handshake:
