Hey folks,

The "fire" side of me would be remiss without reminding everyone to please be safe this year.  If you didn't change the batteries in smoke alarms when you set the clocks back; then do so now.  If you're using a real tree; make sure it has plenty of water.  A few aspirins a day won't hurt either.  Don't overload extensions cords!  I know it's real easy with all the lights.

Fire isn't fun any time, but I have seen enough in my career during this time of year and it ain't good.  Have a great Christmas and be careful.

Kelly :)

Thanks kelly, But Im curious about the aspirins???  Is that for the tree??  LOL

Silly Question I know, but I've never heard that one before.  If its for the tree then what does it do or supposed to do??

I feel stupid for asking  LMAO  but hey ya never know until you ask right?  :D

Unknown questions are NEVER stupid.  Not asking is stupid.

Aspirins seem to keep the tree fresher.  Fresher the tree, longer it stays greener and keeps the capillaries to the leaves fresher.

Depending on your city ordinances,  I would encourage anyone who does use real trees; when Christmas is over, take outside (of course) and get it away from the house and take a lighter and just light the end of one of the leaves and STAND BACK.  If you have never done this before it will show you how FAST and HOT one of those suckers can burn.

One last comment about "stupid."  My definition of stupid goes out to the lady my guys responded to last week who had a kitchen fire.  She actually had mounted a paper towel holder directly over the back of her stove.  It caught fire; (GEEEZZ! Wonder how that could happen)  She yanked it of the wall and threw it to the other side of her kitchen; in turn catching the other side of her kitchen on fire.

HERE'S YOUR SIGN!

Had to edit:  Thought of another good tip:  IF you happen to have a fire say, in maybe one room.  I know you can always call a clean up service to help get rid of the oder, but a cheap little tip is to take a burlap bag, or one of those open mesh bags that potatoes come in; then take about a dozen or so apples; cut them each in half and put them in the bag.  hang the bag in the room for a day and it should take the smell out.

Kelly  LMAO

Kelly,  I think it's also important to mention NEVER cook on a gas or even electric stove, or get near fire while wearing Terricloth <SP> or any material that catches on fire easily and burns VERY quickly

I bought a new prelit artificial tree this year. Woo hoo, it rocks. I miss the smell of a real tree, but it is so much safer. My dad insisted I not get a real tree. He has had to many friends have house fires during the holidays which can be very sad.
