I know the general consensus for the best way to go is computerized. But I'm more interested in purchasing a stand alone player.  I've kind of narrowed it down to three different players and would like to know what your opinions are:

First one is the RSQ NEO-500 the biggest thing that catches my eye is the fact that they provide a free download of the program for creating my own neo+ga disk.

Second is the CAVs DAVID-203 they advertise that disk created for super cd+g can be played on a computer also I think thats a nice feature if I later on decide to expand to a computer based system.  The draw back is you have to purchase separate softer to create a super cd+g disk.

Third is the Acesonic DGX-506 I like the fact is multi tray that allows me to change disk while one is still playing and it boasts a fairly decent load and access time.

Another nice feature for each one is if I purchase any of these from acekaraoke.com they include free karaoke disks.

If you own or have used one of these please let me know if what you liked or disliked about it. or let me know if there's another system in the same price range.

My pick of thoise players would be the Aceonic

Unfortuately it is difficult to find a decent player that has the basic features we all need yet is dependable for continuous use. JVC made a fine player for many years and now is no longer making Karaoke players. I'm totally lost with what is the best these days as I still have both of my JVC units and have no need for a player as I'm computerized.

The Acesonic player looks like a decent machine and I have not heard any negative comments on it. RSQ's newer players have been getting some bad publicity lately....not sure how valid those complaints are.

I'm currently using the Acesonic DGX-105 which is a single tray, and I've been very pleased with the unit. In fact I'm thinking about picking another one up, or maybe holding out til I hear some more about the new 5 disc player.
You can get the DGX-105 new for 129.00 or a refurbished unit for 79 bucks. It comes with it's own rackmount kit, and is very shock resistant, I should know, I toppled my rackcase the other night and the unit is still playing right along.
I believe the DGX-506 is currently selling for around 249.00

here's what the manual from the DGX-105 says:
This unit supports the following disc formats:
DVD, MPEG-4,Divx,Video CD, Video CD 2.0, CD+G, Audio CD, HDCD, DTS CD's, MP3, WMA, JPEG, Kodak, MPEG

Above media is playable on the following discs:
DVDR, DVDRW, DVDR DL, DVDRW DL, CD-R, CD-RW

If you have any questions, I would call Acesonic directly and ask tech support, they didn't list a direct number in the manual, but I have spoken with them before and they are more than helpful with any questions you may have.
Again, sorry I don't have the number right in front of me.
Hope this helps.

James

One word of caution on Acesonic players. I tried their 6 disc player and the disc stack got stuck on out position at a gig. Needless to say, I wasn't happy. I retured it and replaced it with two 105s, thinking if one went down, I can use another. It's ok but they have some quirks. First, the loading time is pretty long. So, I had to use both to queue the songs to cut down on load time. Second, they would just shut down for no reason. If you turn it back on, it works but I didn't like it.

Maybe they fixed all these bugs but that's main reason why I went digital. I couldn't find any player that was reliable enough for shows. I have my laptop as a back up just in case so I am happier with the solution now.

Who makes the "Acesonic" products ?  Are they the manufacturing company as well as distributor ?  Or,  are they a product (perhaps made by Panasonic-or Matsushita electronics) for Ace Karaoke, or something similar ?

my JVC triple tray is going on it's 9th year and still going. I never have had to use my backup unit other than when I took the main one in for routine cleaning and alignment.

Other than some of the early Pioneer units (far more expensive units) the JVC was tops in my book. It's a real shame that they do not make these players anymore. :(

I've heard lots of good things about the older units but unfortunately there hard to find.  That's why I'm trying to find out which is the better one of the newer models.  I haven't heard anything about the CAVs or RSQ so the acesonic is looking better and better each day. I've notice it also has a USB port on the front so it looks like it would be good next step from my daughters memorex player.  and since it'll supposedly play the mp3+g then if I do up-grade to a computer system it should still be a good back up player.

But please keep the information coming in. I won't know for sure what I'm going to get until I buy something and all the posting have been very usefull so far.

Hree is one of the players I have available on EBAY for cheap.

JVC on Ebay

Also, I think, RSQ took over the JVC karaoke machines, but I don't have a clue if they are of the same quality.
