This can only happen when you are on a full multiplex system. Those KJs who use multiplex disc will know that you need to go to 'L' for most songs and in some discs it is the R channel that have no vocal. Most of our discs have the original singer/artist on the  the vocal guild channel.
On many occasion when I was still active hosting at the bar, I came across some very good singers. They can be so good that I thought I was on the wrong channel and hearing the original artist, which made me press the channel button to get rid of the original. Of course I will now have two voices singing. Then I had to quickly revert back to the correct channel. After the song finish I normally come around that table and compliment the singer personally while explaining the mistake.

Saturday night I was at this bar. The host did the above to me. That was the biggest complement. Some night I can just get it right.

Mean a lot for an ex- Badsinger.

Anyone have similar experience to share.

:D

way to go dahlin

yep wedding in feb it was such a hot day and folk were sitting round outside the marquee under trees
I wandered inside and started singing
no-one thought anything of it til someone came inside to use the ladies room and went outside and said it was live, no-one believed her so one by one people came to the door and peered in, was like being in a cage. I freely admit that it was likely the mix of heat and alcohol that had people thinking I sounded like a cd

Yeah Jian !!

This happened to me this year. I made a cd for my parents of me
singing for a combination Father's Day birthday gift. I brought it in for
my girl friend to listen too. She is a hair dresser and I came
into the shop to get my hair done. She popped it in while she was doing
my hair. The lady next us getting her hair done was going on about loving
Janis Joplin and how great she was. We had no idea that she didn't realize
it was me and not Janis until I was leaving and my girlfriend went to get the cd to give back to me. What a wonderful compliment in deed.

I used to get that when I was a teenager. I would sing Styx or Queen and people thought it was from tape with the vocals being mixed wrong. I thought they were just saying nice things for the heck of it. I didn't believe them until they saw me actually singing and confronted me about it.

My wife saw a lady grab the microphone out of another ladies hand, claiming she wasn't really singing, that she was just lip syncing.   The lady was indeed singing the song.     I have had many people think the jukebox was playing, when it was actually me.     I like to see the look of surprise. :O  LMAO

Pick one, I had 4.   I wore each one out.    They are like cars with 300,000 miles on them. LMAO
