Someone ask me the other day, 'what would it take to get you to quit smoking'?
After a few moments, I answered them, 'A good woman'
Of course the wanted to know what I meant.
I have no significant other in my life, which is pretty much why I have so many bad habits. I'm left to my own devices and since I have to answer to no one, I pretty much toss caution to the wind. My choice to stop drinking was an easy one, and it's been actually much easier than I thought.
But back to the woman. If I had someone in my life, that I was truly in love with and wanted to spend the rest of my life with, all she would have to do is say one thing:
'I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you, but if you keep smoking, you're going to cheat us both out of some very valuable time that can never be replaced.'
If I met a woman, who was strong enough in heart and mind to tell me that, I would stop immediately and never pick up another smoke as long as I lived. I say this with total sincerity. That's all it would take. May sound silly but it's the truth.
