Sorry if this is a repeat question, I searched the forums and couldn't find the answer.

Anyone who uses the Audigy PCMCIA Card in your laptop, can you connect it directly to your mixer??

The short answer is yes. I have done it. You do need a right cable to make it happen.

I got a Y cable from Circuit City--

I can plug this into the headphone/ optical out on the card.  Is this what you're referring to?

Also one of the newer technologies out there are Mixers that takes USB instead of audio. newmark for one makes one. and the quality is as good or better than a sound card. it is about $100.00..... of course they have higher end mixers, but that is the entry level.
