I'm glad to hear all is going well for you guys. *Avdvanced maternal age*?? WTF is that?
Yeah... apparently anyone over 35 is now considered 'advanced maternal age'. yay. I'm 36 (will still be 36 for a month or so when baby is born), but during my genetic testing counselling, I was told "We're going this because.. you're old". I nearly turned purple. Other than that, the doc was really nice and maybe he was teasing about that bit, but holy cow... he's lucky he walked out of that room intact.
You're right though, especially these days, women are having kids well into their 40s on a regular basis (and much older too). Actually, I think even back in the days when folks used to produce really BIG familys (12... 20 kids), the moms must have been getting up in years when they had the youngest members. But, whatever. I being over 35 puts a woman at an increased risk for genetic problems, but we're trying to be optimistic about that. Our preliminary testing (NT - Nuchal Translucency) test was good. The docs talked me into doing an AFP as well, just a blood test, but I turned down the Amnio because I didn't want anything invasive. I guess we would still have to do that if anything really bad showed up, but they should also be able to tell a lot from the big ultrasound coming up on the 16th.

Soon you'll be wagging a baby holder on one arm, a loaded diaper bag on the other, and learning to eat, clean, fold colthes and all that good stuff... with a baby cradled in your arms.... then, you'll be running after him/her.... and you'll be in the best shape of your life.
heheheh.. now for a minute there I thought you said a 'loaded diaper' in one hand. I was thinking um ewwww!!
But I guess that's all part of it too. You're right, I'll have a lot to learn this being my first. I'm nervous!! I can still hardly even believe it's really going to happen.

Be sure to drink TONS of water to make your skin nice and healthy... and use cocoa butter lotion (pure), before ya start expanding at a rapid rate. I did that, and I do not have ONE stretch mark on my body.
Well, I should probably be taking that more seriously...
the cocoa butter thing sounds like a good idea. I'll see if I can get some and start using it. I guess I just haven't felt like I'm changing that much, but sure enough one day I'll be like WHOA hhehehe
Truth is, I mostly wear loose clothes anyway, so it's hard for me to notice a difference. It's down there though...
heheh
Thanks again, Char. I'm scared, but looking forward to the adventure.
