Thanks to Charmin for sending me a message asking how things were going. ;) This is mostly going to be a 'repeat' for her, but thought it would be a good idea to let other interested folks know how we are doing.

Everything is going good so far and I'm already almost 5months along (about 19 1/2 weeks).   We had a 'freebie' ultrasound at our local college at about... 17/18 weeks? and the girl said she *thinks* it's a boy, but not to run out and buy any clothes yet. We have a 'big' ultrasound scheduled in a couple of weeks and we should find out for sure then. Of course, we're also going through all of the genetic testing (since I'm of 'Advanced Maternal Age' :bigcry:) and that's pretty scary, but so far, so good!

We've decided that the name will be Skye Wynn (or Skye Wynne - with an e, if it turns out to be a girl), so Gilly had her influence after all.

Oh, (this is new, Char) I'm still not really showing yet, although JVJ says he can 'tell'. I can feel a bit of a bump, I just can't tell by looking at myself. I think I've been feeling some movement, but not really anything that noticeable. We're excited though. :)

Thanks everyone, hope you're all having fun.

Just make sure ya pop in now and again and keep us updated....

New babies are too exciting not to share.

I'm glad to hear all is going well for you guys. *Avdvanced maternal age*?? WTF is that? Women have babies at all ages now, and you can't be any older than me.... heck, it's kinda funny. Most women I know have kids MUCH younger than mine, or are just having theirs.... and I'm a grandma now.    But I guess I started young. As long as you're in general good health, you should be fine.  Soon you'll be wagging a baby holder on one arm, a loaded diaper bag on the other, and learning to eat, clean, fold colthes and all that good stuff... with a baby cradled in your arms.... then, you'll be running after him/her....  and you'll be in the best shape of your life.

Skye Wynne (or Wynn)..... that's cute. My nephew is named Phoenix Sky, and I call him Sky sometimes...... I think that's a very cute name. And hey, my middle name is Lynn.... so that's almost after me too.  LMAO  (what a dork I am...)

I never showed pregnancy, until about 6-6 1/2 months. I was able to wear my jeans, albeit unbottoned one or two buttons at about 6 months.... But then, you'll get to where stuff fits ya one day, and doesn't the next.  LOL Be sure to drink TONS of water to make your skin nice and healthy... and use cocoa butter lotion (pure), before ya start expanding at a rapid rate. I did that, and I do not have ONE stretch mark on my body. (course, my mom don't either, so maybe it's genetic?) But I have always chocked it up to my healthy eating habits and the cocoa butter.  :D  3 of my siters have stretch marks from hell, and I was able to avoid it completely. And I passed that on to my daughter in law, and she didn't get any either.

Anyhow, I could babble baby nonsense all day, so I better get outta here & shut up. But honestly, having my kids...... to me, will always be my greatest accomplishment in life. It's an awesome time for you two.... congrats to ya both.  :D

.

women who are preg with their first one often don't show until the latter part of their second trimester. It's because the muscles are still fairly tight on your body... not used to carrying something down there! LOL!

Second pregnancies show much sooner!

Yeah... apparently anyone over 35 is now considered 'advanced maternal age'. yay. I'm 36 (will still be 36 for a month or so when baby is born), but during my genetic testing counselling, I was told "We're going this because.. you're old". I nearly turned purple. Other than that, the doc was really nice and maybe he was teasing about that bit, but holy cow... he's lucky he walked out of that room intact. ;)

You're right though, especially these days, women are having kids well into their 40s on a regular basis (and much older too). Actually, I think even back in the days when folks used to produce really BIG familys (12... 20 kids), the moms must have been getting up in years when they had the youngest members. But, whatever. I being over 35 puts a woman at an increased risk for genetic problems, but we're trying to be optimistic about that. Our preliminary testing (NT - Nuchal Translucency) test was good. The docs talked me into doing an AFP as well, just a blood test, but I turned down the Amnio because I didn't want anything invasive. I guess we would still have to do that if anything really bad showed up, but they should also be able to tell a lot from the big ultrasound coming up on the 16th.

heheheh.. now for a minute there I thought you said a 'loaded diaper' in one hand. I was thinking um ewwww!! lol But I guess that's all part of it too. You're right, I'll have a lot to learn this being my first. I'm nervous!! I can still hardly even believe it's really going to happen.

Well, I should probably be taking that more seriously... the cocoa butter thing sounds like a good idea. I'll see if I can get some and start using it. I guess I just haven't felt like I'm changing that much, but sure enough one day I'll be like WHOA hhehehe :) Truth is, I mostly wear loose clothes anyway, so it's hard for me to notice a difference. It's down there though... ;) heheh

Thanks again, Char. I'm scared, but looking forward to the adventure. :)
