Hi! I am new to this and I am going insane here!!!  I like to sing Karaoke, but I hate having to buy a whole CDG just for a few songs that i like. so I thought, "It cant be that hard to make my own CDG". Hmmmm, sure fooled myself on that one LOL. !!!Anyways, here's my situation... Right now I have Installed the VanBasco's Karaoke player. I have been downloading MIDIs and karaoke files but i dont know how to put the text and audio together to make a CDG.  I do not like the way that they are sounding when I play them on the player, they sound really fake and its like a lot of piano noise or something that would throw me off while trying to sing!! What Im trying to figure out is....What do I need to do now? Im not sure the purpose of the karaoke player..I have a karaoke machine in my living room that plays CDG on my TV.!!.. Im so lost and frustrated!!  Will someone with a little knowledge please guide me in the right direction?! Sorry for the legnth of the post!! Thanks in advance!

Or you could just go to mycdg.com & purchase the songs you want already in good quality & non-midi format.

Buying an entire CDG for the one song you want is a common "peave".
Many karaoke suppliers now offer CUSTOM cdgs- You pick the songs that you want to be on the disc "CUSTOMS DISCS" usually a minimum of 5-10songs at a cost of $5 per song.  The entire disc WILL cost you $50 but it will have ONLY the songs you want to sing.  It actually works out cheaper than buying 6 discs to get 7 songs you want !!!...Just an option -  Making your own cdgs???  Can't help you and would NOT reccomend it for the reasons you stated mostly QUALITY.
Shop around on line you can find some real bargains on cdgs  - look for some PACKS or SETS that are discount priced and may contain MORE of the songs you want to sing . Good Luck and WELCOME

MIDI music is all made on a synthesizer and sounds just like that - synthesized!!

There is no such thing as a free lunch. Multiple musicians and audio wizards worked hard and long even to make that crappy BackStage version of your favorite karaoke song, so there is no reason to assume that you could somehow cheat the system and come up with the same quality on your own.

Buy the discs like everyone else and be happy that we live in America and can actually waste our time on silly (but fun!!) activities such as karaoke...

BTW, unless you want NEW releases or hard to find songs, you can get MOST common karaoke songs in decent versions for about $3-5 a disc online. PM me and I'll hook you up with a few sites to check out!!

Providing you have a decent computer, a compatable burner, some free software, and can get your hands on the CDG's that contain your favorites.....Then with a certain amount of time and effort you can most certainly compile very high quality 'custom' CDG's that contain only your favorite songs....There is a learning curved involved, however.

Even Girls do it every day! LMAO

Having custom CDG's like that are really handy if you got a friendly KJ with a limited music collection...you can simply hand him the disc and state "I wanna do # XX on this disc"....and next time you are up you tell him the # of your next selection on the same disc....I got a few of those myself for those very reasons.

If on the other hand, you are asking us how to save a few bucks and not purchase legal copies, I doubt you will get much help here....No, I didn't say that was your intention....I'm only describing the crowd here and the site rules we follow.

So like the guys stated above....First buy the CDG's containing the one song you want on each, or try the internet sites that allow you to download singles....Either choice will require you have a decent computer and a compatable burner.....Once you get there, then come back and we will gladly help you convert those files into high quality custom discs that contain only your favorites.

Welcome to the addiction!

You could look at a program like powerkaraoke.  It'll let you add the text to songs and burn them to disk in CD+G format.  They even offer a program that will "supposedly" strip the lead vocals off most your standard music cd's.  I've tried the trial version but wasn't to impressed with the end result.

Or just buy the ones you want from someone like Tricerasoft at $2.49 a throw and using mp3+gtoolz, CDRWIN and a compatible cdrom drive blow your own cds.
