I think the coffee tastes richer through it, than my mom's drip machine. But, then again, that is just MY opinion:) We are biiig coffee people. When we travel, we bring our OWN coffee:)  The place was right down the road from where we used to live (i NEVER got tired of the smell of freshly roasting coffee in the air... ALL day;), but you can order online too. They roast it RIGHT when you order, and ship it that day. Nice and fresh:) Plus, it is just a darn good company, with a strong goal in mind:) Their chocolate is good too, but, i am not a chocolate person:)

For those of you that don't know Costco has a great coffee deal at least in the Austin store I go to. They roast in the store daily, and they sell a 2 lb bag of fresh coffee beans for $8 a bag US. They have Columbian decaf, and a few non-decaf. I usually get the Sumatran. Like I say I used to roast my own until I found out about this deal. There coffee was so good, and so cheap, with so little effort I couldn't really justfiy roasting my own anymore. I will again someday soon though I believe. I still miss all the different flavors I used to enjoy. Probably Sulawesi is one of my favs.

Check your local Costco for a similar deal.

I've really been into coffee for some time. I used to roast my own beans. I also have a little coffee tree that I picked up in Kona, Hawaii that I keep trying to nurse. Oddly it's been thriving out in the heat lately.

Stop roasting your own beans, Bill!

Sincerely,  Juan "Jeffieoke" Valdez :withstupid:

I'm having serious issues this morning. My Cuisinart broke and I
am without my coffee. It is going to be crabby Babs today.

I contacted Cuisinart and they are replacing my coffee maker for free. I just have to pay shipping - cool. But what do I do in the mean time.

I don't even want to think about being without coffee Babs.  That is a really nasty situation.  It's important !  I'm already feeling headachy just reading this

For awhile it was considered the best - at least until that version that comes from that small critter became fashionable. You know what I mean right?

Anyway, yeah Jamaican Blue Mountain - while in Jamaica must be incredible! I would love to drink it fresh there. When I was in Kona, Hawaii I would sit outside my hotel and there was a coffee kiosk that had very fresh Kona. Normally I hadn't been much of a Kona fan, but it was SO good there. Course it always helps looking at palm trees and watching the surf on the beach while you drink it.

If I were you I would order some green Jamaican Blue Mountain and roast it myself. It isn't that hard to do and you will absolutely love it. It can't get any fresher. The good thing is you can order quite a bit of green beans and they stay fresh for a long time. When you are ready to drink some you just roast enough for a week or two at a time. Roasting is fairly quick and easy.

You can roast in a pan in a gas oven, or on the stove in a pot (probably should be modified). You can also use some old style popcorn poppers or air popcorn poppers. My fav has been the air popcorn popper.

Just talking about this is making me want to roast again. Glad you brought it up. I will have to try and remember to do this.

Here's a link for some green beans I found. There are many sources on the net:
http://www.u-roast-em.com/coffee-beans-jamaican.html

Let me know if you want to know more. I can point you to a quick reference book about roasting, and some equipment choices. As I recall this approach is cheaper than buying already roasted coffee, but not as cheap as the Costco deal.

Bill

Every Costco I've been to has that. I've only been to Costcos in three states but those states are Michigan, Texas and California.

I thought about suggesting that yesterday but too many people think you always get what you pay for. They never think about the fact that they may be overpaying for what they are currently getting.

We get the Costa Rican French Roast. The savings on good coffee alone makes it worth our money to renew the Costco card every year. The brand name is Seattle Mountain Coffee.
