Quote: Do you realize how difficult it is for some (and I don't know why this is) to just say thank you when complimented ? You are correct, I've heard this over and over again.
Thank you morgan.
And by the way, Steven, the phrase, 'Thank you' do not exist in my language. It puzzle me for a very long time. Now I have a theory to explain why we have no such terms.

Could somebody explain to me what the big conflict is about in Singers Showcase?
Mark, KeepingItCntry, refers to "hoping to bring unity to this site" in one of his song descriptions. I guess I'm not in the inside loop enough in SS to fully understand what's going on there. I know all about Music Critic and this other song comment sniper. Is there something else going on too? Just curious.

I was wondering the same thing, I just got a PM asking if I would sub under listen only because Mark wants to bring "unity" to the sight........ I really don't understand why people take SS so seriously, alot of people over there are quite literally obsessed, when in reality it's just a bunch of people singing.. ..there will always be others that don't support the popular opinion over there, live with it, and move on.
My other question is, in today's society, how do people have the time to worry about this crap? Alot of the folks involved in this "revolution" over there, sub two songs a day, push out 50 comments, and answer all the comments they recieved on their two subs for the day.........geeeez man, that's a full time job, i'm lucky to get 2 subs a month in there. Plenty of other things to worry about, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Israel/Hezbollah, global warming, bird flu......just sing and be glad your still alive.

Chamjam~ Off hand I would have to agree with you completely. I'd still like to have a clue as to what the 'big problem" is. I just can't imagine that it's that serious of an issue -- maybe I'm wrong!

I am so glad that I am not the only ones to arrive after the train wreck and wonder what happened. Am I going to have to dig through subs on SS until I find out what is going on besides bazillions of 10s (no apostrophe)?
Could we ask Admin to change it to "comments" instead of "critique" (even with a rating system)? Admin could also set up a "review committee" and charge a fee for "serious" critiques which are done in private. Perhaps we could solicit volunteers and then vote on them to be members of the initial review committe. Afterwards, it could be invitation only. Only people paying for the serious critiques could vote for the initial group. It might not be the best way to get this rolling but it is the most fair I can come up with. Admin shouldn't be put into a position to be blasted for selecting what some would perceive as the "wrong" people for the committee because you know at least some of the confidentially chosen people's names will get out.
There has to be a way to please the masses and promote the betterment of aspiring singers, too. I like getting 10s...but I think of it as an A for effort. It sure ain't the quality of my one poor sub. But it would be incredible to have a serious sub seriously critiqued by knowledgeable people.
"Shut, up, Gayle."
Ok, I am through. Oh, as an aside, I think CUM refers to a cumulative grade point.

A select group of peeps want the rankings to be more of a real thing so that the best singers are actually portrayed by the rankings. They feel that when peeps keep giving out 10s to each other when it is not deserved, it decreases the sincerity of the rankings. Without getting petty here I will say that there have been occasions where they go back and forth and laugh at some of these people getting 10s on their music. I took offense to this twice. I see this as a fun site, but maybe making the site more competitive would be a financial boon for the site, who knows? Everyone has been worried about my business when I say anything in defense of everyone using the rankings as they see fit. We all pay for the same rights here.
I personally think a few see themselves as potential top 5 Joes and if so, more power to them but it may never happen here while things are status quo.

I wasn't scheduled for another three weeks. Which is a good thing, I hate having to get up out this computer chair for repetitious crap.

Sometimes the muliplicity of human nature can cause embarrassment in retrospect. Not apologizing, but still embarrassed.

It's a complicated thing, these critiques. I remember somebody who earnestly asked for one and quite a number of responses. If I remember correctly, I don't think anyone even made any suggestions, although there surely was room for improvement. This person later stated to someone's comment that although she had gotten an overall "very good" rating (for me it was "good" with room for improvement) she was a bit disappointed because she felt it was better than that. I don't even give 10s ("Perfect") out because I don't believe anything can possibly be "perfect" and "near perfect" has to be downright dazzling considering the imperfections inherent in the sound quality of the player this site uses and other audio factors. If anything there should be three ratings: Poor, Fair, Good. "Good" will be used all too frequently but it puts things in proportion anyway.
