I have found a program called Audio Edit Deluxe, and I have figured out how to do the vocal recording, but having trouble figuring out how to add my music to it too. Need major help in this area  . Granted, I love doing accappella stuff, but I think it would be fun to add the music tracks too.

Don't know if Audio Edit Deluxe can do it or not, but most sound software has an option to add in anoter track.  You should be able to "paste" the music track into the software.  

Looking at the website for AUDIO EDIT DELUXE, if seems that it should be able to "paste" in your music.

I have never use the program, but from what I know, its an audio editing program and not a multi-track recording program.

I use Adobe Audition, though I couldn't recomend it. I paid for a lot of stuff I don't need in that.

Chuch I have use CEP, the older ver of AA. They are very good program but like you say, why pay for something you don't need.

Keep it simple----just hook your karaoke machine up to the sound inpur jack on the puter. Then using someting simple like AUDACITY--simply start playing and singng and hit the record button on audacity and PRESTO!! recording on computer!  Just that easy!

I had adobe audition and I know what you mean....had mega trouble figuring it out. I will keep looking online for some programs and see what I come up with...thanks for the input.

it just covers the basics of recording using the multi track window, and adding efx. I included screen shots as well to make it easier to understand

I actually have done that myself. It worked very well for me. My only problem was using a software that costs so much when I could get a freeware to do the same thing.

Audacity was actually recomended to me by my voice acting teacher. He does recordings from home that he sends all over the US to his clients.

BTW there are Audacity tutorials available. I haven't read the yet but here is a link purely for the purpose of edification.

I hope this helps. It does do multitrack if needed.

Even more simple, bypass the karaoke machine. Why do you need it, if you are recording. Play the track in the pc. Simple and cheap.

I like the machin as a way to use effects and it gives me a vocal monitor.

The recording program can do that and you can sill monitor your singing thro the headphone. Recording via the karaoke machine not only complicate the proses but also result in a less than satisfactory recording.

How do u hook the Karaoke machine to the computer?  What wires do u use?

Why would you want to record all together.  Record the music first, then lay down the vocal tracks - this will allow you to go & fix mistakes in the vocals without having to re-record the entire song.
Set it up right, you can do it all through the computer, a decent mic & a pair of good headphones.

you need a cord with a plug that looks like it would be a headphone plug and the other end needs to have RCA plugs on them....you can get them at RadioShack or Wal-mart.  - Tonya

I agree with Lon.Lay down the track from either a .wav or mp3 file.. once you converted it from the CD+G work from there.Trust me, I know it gets frustrating working with recording programs.I use Sonar 5/Cakewalk(probably one of the most hair pulling programs out there)These programs sucker you in with all the bells and whistles of what it can do,but then you find out you have to go on line and pay additional fees for either added effects or even an mp3 decoder/encoder.
But my best advice to you is {READ THE MANUAL!!} (or) go on line and read the forums on the product you wish to purchase.You'll find  either the frustrated consumers with all the questions or the happy few that got it right the first time.
Recording on the fly is a biatch! I could not see myself recording the same song over and over just because my voice happened to crack during the chorus.Pause,punch and record is the only way to do it.
