Hi I wish to learn more from you guys... just wondering since I am using 1/4" balanced TRS cable to link my unamp mixer to active speaker, will that hurt if I use "microphone" balanced cable like those from Mogami?

They labeled as "microphone cable" so I am wondering is that just for microphone only. They look the same to me. Any comment?

Nope it is fine, they are called mic cables because mainly that's what they are used for.  If your mixer has XLR outputs & your active speakers have XLR inputs - use a mic cable of adequate length.

I would not use any kind of microphone cable or guitar cord for speaker usage.
Microphone cables may cut too much of the signal to the speakers.  The wire gauge used in these cables is too thin and will have too much resistance.

Ha, ha.  I see I'm disagreeing with Lonman.  Maybe he has found that in practical usage it doesn't seem to cause a problem.  In theory it could though.

As a "speaker" cable no - a microphone cable is not adequate.  Speaker cable being the cable between a power amp & speaker.  
His is an active speaker system, which means it just needs the line level signal coming from the mixer TO the amplified speaker which a microphone cable is perfectly adequate to run a line level signal.

What lonman says is correct as these are powered speakers and so the signal being delivered to them is line level which a "microphone" cable is suited to.

The fact it is called a microphone cable is somewhat misleading as it is suited to carrying any type of line level signals. I guess it's just because XLRs are often associated with microphones.

If you try to stick an amplifier output down any line level cable it will work to a point but I wouldn't do it if you value your equipment!

Older speaker systems often used XLR connections as well back in the 70-'s/80's even some early 90's.
